Things to know about your mural and my services…
- I pride myself in the quality of my work, attention to detail and your happiness with my work.
- If you've chosen to start your mural with a base color, I recommend and prefer Home Depot's Behr line
of paints. For children's environments, I suggest a satin finish for mural longevity and outstanding
durability. Wall color is provided by the client, however I can recommend specific colors that have worked
well in previous murals depending on your project. I provide all materials and the artist colors needed to
complete your project.
- Checks are to be made payable to: April Harper. If mailing a check, I will provide you with a mailing
address at that time.
- In preparation of your painting, please remove any furniture from the walls that will be painted
allowing me at least four feet of workspace from the wall surface to your furniture. If removing furniture
from the room is an option, this will be less time consuming for me, therefore more cost effective for you and
will allow me to spend more time painting than dodging furniture. Although I have some protective
coverings, if you choose to provide any of your own coverings to protect furniture, it's appreciated!
- Please remove all light switch plates, electric outlet plates and vent grills if they will interfere with
wall color or murals.
- If you're having a wall color done, cleaning your baseboards is crucial for a precise line of color that will
meet with your baseboards. Dusty baseboards will not allow my tape to adhere effectively therefore creating
a smudgy line of color on baseboards.
- Depending on the area in which you live, my hours will vary. If you live on the Northwest side of
Austin, for example, I work from 9:30 to 1:30. There are times when I'm at a stopping point and simply
cannot paint more until the paint is dried or cured. Only under special circumstances do I work weekends.
- Paint odors
- Wall color: The wall color from Behr doesn’t have a very strong smell at all, but if you find it offensive,
usually keeping the windows open while I’m there and/or from the time I leave you may find that the odor
is practically non-existent so your child can sleep in their room that very night.
- Mural/Artist Paint: My artist paints are 100% odor-free, lead-free and non-toxic.
- Mural Sealant: Your mural can be made more durable in a mural if sealed with a spray sealant that I use.
There is an additional cost for the sealer and the odor is very strong. If you choose this option, I do not
recommend letting your child sleep in their room the first night due to the odor.
9. I appreciate your input at all times but please remember, I am an artist. The painting I am
providing for you is my very best and although it's a service, I'm still somewhat sensitive to criticism.
I do appreciate constructive criticism at all times though! If you have any ideas or concerns, please address
them as soon as they come to mind. Remember, this project is yours and your happiness and compliments
are what makes my artwork and business thrive!
10. Referrals and repeat business are your best compliment!
